AVUÁ CACHAÇA
From the first inviting sip to the end of the cocktail, Avuá Cachaça invites you to discover the spirit of Brazil in six unique, small-batch single estate-sourced cachaças, produced in partnership with one of Brazil’s few female distillers.
ROOK was approached to co-create the brand together with two partners, Pete Nevenglosky & Nate Whitehouse, and to imagine and lead the branding, packaging design and marketing efforts. Inspired by the vistas visible from the beach of Copacabana, we custom-designed an iconic asymmetrical structure that stands out on the back bar and is ergonomic in the hand for easy and quick pouring - whether on premise or at home.
There is an expression in Brazil that goes something like this: “you drink cachaça, you fly.” Avuá colloquially means “to fly” and the bird in flight that makes up the brand’s icon is the Sabiá-laranjeira - the national bird of Brazil. The visual identity system and marketing collateral mimic the vibe of 1950’s brazil - the time of the birth of Bossa Nova. The lively color palette reinforces the vibrant spirit of that time and of Brazil’s people.
